BLISS DANCE COMPANY
Bliss Dance Company (BDC) is an award-winning hip hop fusion dance company based in Vacaville, California, known for blending dynamic urban dance styles with theatre, storytelling, comedy and high-energy performance.
Founded in 2004 by Founder, Owner and Artistic Director Fatena “Fae” Salfiti, BDC grew from the recreational hip hop program Salfiti began after relocating to Solano County in 2002. What started with classes taught throughout the community developed into a full dance company, eventually finding a permanent home with the opening of Bliss Urban Arts Center in 2011. Today, more than two decades later, Bliss continues to provide a space where dancers can train, perform, create and develop their individual artistic voices.
Throughout its history, Bliss Dance Company has built a reputation for performances that go beyond choreography. Drawing from Salfiti’s background in both dance and theatre, BDC incorporates character, theatricality, musicality, storytelling and humor into its work while remaining rooted in hip hop culture and movement.
BDC has performed throughout the Bay Area and beyond, appearing at professional sporting events, community and commercial productions, music videos, television appearances, national competitions and major dance showcases. Company dancers have performed in connection with organizations and platforms including the San Francisco 49ers, Raiders, Golden State Warriors Jr. Jam Squad, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and BET, among others.
The company has earned recognition and competitive placements at events including World of Dance Bay Area, Onyx and Prelude, while BDC Founder and Artistic Director Fae Salfiti has received six Solano County Arty Awards for choreography.
A significant part of BDC’s artistic history has been its relationship with the prestigious San Francisco International Hip Hop DanceFest, where Bliss has been selected to perform alongside companies and artists from throughout the United States and around the world. BDC first broke through to the festival in 2010 after auditioning for several consecutive years, and returned in later seasons, including 2022 and 2024 at San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts Theatre. Its 2022 piece, Fonk on Site, was presented as a world premiere/commissioned work.
Beyond awards and performances, Bliss Dance Company’s greatest legacy is the generations of dancers who have grown through the program. Several company members have gone on to receive agency representation, scholarships and professional performance opportunities, while others have returned to Bliss as instructors, choreographers and mentors—continuing the culture in which they were raised.
Now entering its third decade, Bliss Dance Company remains committed to developing versatile performers, creating meaningful and entertaining work, and giving young artists opportunities to grow both on and off the stage.
